Jim Carrey is speaking out against new legislation requiring all public school children in California to be vaccinated starting in 2016.

Carrey, who has been an outspoken critic of vaccinations, said Gov. Jerry Brown needed to be stopped.

“California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in manditory vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped,” Carrey tweeted of Brown, who signed the legislation Tuesday.

The new legislation removes personal belief exemptions to vaccinations for religious reasons. Carrey was once in a relationship with Jenny McCarthy, the public face of the anti-vaccination movement. She has said her son developed autism after receiving a vaccination.

Fellow celebrities have lent their support behind Carrey in voicing their displeasure with the law, taking to Twitter to retweet those voicing similar positions and writing their own opinions condemning the compulsory vacccination policy.

Amongst those throwing their weight behind Carrey are Kristie Alley, who emphasized the “SIXTY-FIVE VACCINES” the law makes manadatory for families and their children. Others, such as fellow Scientologists Jenna Elfman and Danny Masterson, as well as actress Selma Blair and noted activist Erin Brockovich, clarified that though they aren’t necessarily anti-vaccine, they feel the law is an egregious case of government overreach and suppression of parental rights. A petition asking Governor Jerry Brown to repeal the law has been gaining steam, with both Blair and Masterson sharing it on Twitter. Thus far, it has nearly reached its goal of 100,000 signatures. Carrey’s sentiments can only help this gain steam.
